Combined Defence Service Examination - 2015

Union Public Service commission released advertisement for Combined Defence Service Examinations to select suitable and aspiring candidates for the courses and subsequent appointments in Army, Navy and Air Force.
The courses will be conducted at:
1. Indian Military Academy - Dehradun - (Males)
2. Indian Naval Academy - Ezhilmala - (Males)
3. Air force Academy - Hyderabad - (Males)
4. Officers Training Academy - (Chennai) - (Males)
5. Officers Training Academy - (Chennai - (Women)
Vacancies – 414 vacancies
1. 200 vacancies, including 25 seats NCC-C (Army wing)
- Indian Military Academy (140th course) – Dehradun
- Commences from January – 2016 – (Males)
2. 45 vacancies including 6 seats NCC-C (Naval wing)
- Indian Naval Academy – Ezhilmala
- Commences from January – 2016 – (Males)
3. 32 vacancies in Air force Academy (Hyderabad)
- Commences from January – 2016 – (Males)
4. 175 – Vacancies in officers Training Academy – Chennai
- 103rd course commences in April – 2016
- Short service commission course for males
5. 12 – vacancies in officers Training Academy – Chennai
- Commences in April 2016
- Exclusive Non-technical for females

Eligibility to Apply:
Citizenship:
Citizens of India, Bhutan, Nepal, refuses of Tibet, Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam who have settled permanently in India can apply.
Physical fitness:
The candidates should have necessary physical fitness, as denoted by C.D.S.
Education:
1. Indian Military Academy - any under graduation (or) equivalent degree
2. Indian Naval Academy - UG in Engineering
3. Armed force Academy - UG and Maths, Physics group in XII

The candidates who are presently studying in the final year can also apply.
Age:
1. To apply for Indian National Academy the candidates, should have been between
02.01.1992 and 01.01.1997
2. To apply for Indian Naval Academy the candidates should have born between
02.01.1992 and 01.01.1997
3. To apply for Airforce Academy the age limit is between 20 and 24.
Of the candidate has the current.
Commercial pilot license issued by DGCA (India), the upper age limit is 26 years.
Note:
1) If the applicant is below 15 years they must be unmarried and the getting married is not permitted during the training period. If the candidate is above 25 years, married candidates can apply. But, the family accommodation cannot be given during training period..
2) for officers training Academy, for males the candidates who have been between 02.01.1991 and 01.01.1997, married as well as unmarried can apply.
3) for officers training Academy for females, unmarried and the divorces who are not re married and children in the age group. 02.01.1991 and 01.01.1997 can apply.

Applying Procedures:
The aspiring candidates can apply in on line www.upsconline.nic.in through web site on or before 05.11.2014. The e-mail card for the examination can be down loaded from the website 3 weeks before the examination, and the applicants must send the correct e-mail id.

In the working days between 10 hrs to 17 hours.

To apply the candidates have to pay Rs.200/- in cash through state Bank of India or in Net Banking facilities available in state Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, state Bank of Hyderabad, state Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Travancore by visa, master Credit and Debit cards. Female candidates, SC and ST candidates need not pay any examination fee.
Selection Procedure:

STEP : 1
The candidates should write the written Examinations to begin with:
Written examination is based on “Multiple choice type” questions. The question papers will be bilingual in English and Hindi:
Syllabus:
For IMA, INA, AFA
1. English - 2hours -100
2. General knowledge – 2 hours – 100
3. Elementary mathematic – 2 hours -100
OTA:
1. English - 2 hours – 100
2. General knowledge – 2 hours – 100
ENGLISH consists of questions related to basic understanding of English usage of words and sentences.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: consists of current affairs, day to day activities, basic sciences, Indian History & Geography besides other general areas.
MATHAMATICS: question paper will be based on X standard level of
Arithmetic (Number system /elementary number theory)
Algebra
Trigonometry,
Geometry
Mensuration and
Statistics

STEP: II – SERVICE SELECTION BOARD:
The qualified candidates of step I (written Examination) are permitted to appear in the tests Interviews conducted by service selection Board for analyzing various skills of the candidates. This test will be in the forms of Intelligence test and personality test.

SSB Interview has two stages:
Stage: 2
This consists of officer Intelligence Rating (OTR) and Picture perception & Description Test (PP &DT).
The qualified candidates in this stage only will be sent to stage 2
STAGE -2
This stage consists of Interview, Group Testing, officers Task, psychologist test and conference.
Service selection Board conducts test for 4 days and the complete details of this test can be got from web site:

SSB tests will be evaluated by
1. Interviewing officers (IO)
2. Group Testing Officer (GTO) and
3. Psychologist
The objective of this test to evaluate the candidates’ abilities as an officer and necessary Intelligence for this.
The candidates who for Naval Aviation and Air force have to face a pilot Aptitude test also.
The candidates will be posted as officers after the training period.
