JEE Main - Entrance Examination for XII Students

Dear IIT Aspirants! Parents!

Central Board of Secondary Education released advertisement for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and this is the time for all the IIT aspirants to apply for the Entrance Examinations.

Indian Institute of Technology Examinations target two stages 1) JEE (Main) 2) JEE (Advance)

All the students who passed XII standard and currently studying XII standard preparing for Mar4ch 2-15 examination under CBSE, State, ISC pattern or any of the pattern recognized by state and Central Government can apply for this Entrance Examination.

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2015 (JEE-Main 2015) will be conducted by JEE Apex board as directed by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. To select candidates for admission to undergraduate Engineering programmes in NIT’s (National Institute of Technology), IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and CFTs (Centrally funded Institutions) etc.

The performance in the Joint Entrance Examination JEE(Main) is necessary for the admissions to undergraduate Engineering programs at NIT’s, IIT’s, other centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments and several other Institutions.

For admission to NIT’s centrally funded institutions(CFI’s) like AIIT’s etc and other participating institutions the Merit / Rank will be prepared based on

40% Weightage to school Boards, marks in XII (or) equivalent examination

60% weightage to JEE(Main)

The school marks will be normalized to consider merit.

The states, as such joined with JEE(Main) system are

a)Gujarat b) Maharashtra c) Madhya Pradesh d) Haryana e) Uttrakhand f) Nagaland g)Odissha. These states, earlier admitted the students based on the state level examination. So, from now, the students belonging to these states should submit JEE (Main) application form.

To get into IIT/ ISM Dhanbad a candidate has to qualify and get merits in JEE (Advanced). JEE (Main) is an eligibility Test to appear JEE (Advanced).

If a candidate get necessary rank in JEE (Main), but not in JEE (Advanced) can join in NIT’s, CFT’s the participants Institutions, or participating states and universities.

How to get the Information & Application form

The Information bulletin and Application Form are available in the website. www.jeemain.nic.in from 7.11.2014.

The eligibility criteria and JEE (Main) & JEE (Advance) are differed and reading the bulletin is necessary.

Eligibility

  1. The candidates who have passed the XII (or) any other equivalent qualifying examination in 2013 or 2014 and those who are appearing in 2015 for XII are eligible.
  2. The candidates willing to appear for improvement examination in XII in 2015 have to appear in all 4/5 subjects as per the scheme of study of the concerned board.

In the percentile system, the total marks of all 5 subjects obtained / shown on the mark sheet of a particular year are remain in JEE (Main) and also in JEE (Advance3d). marks in different years from different Mark sheets cannot be considered for calculating percentile.

  1. In general the number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE(Main) is 3 times.
  2. Age limit
  1. General candidates : born after October 01, 1990.
  2. SC / ST/ PWD : born or after October 01,1985
  3. Maharashtra, Odissha : (Age, No. of attempts – part practical

(Not applicable for IIT/ NIT/ CFT’s

In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit cards, the candidate will need to pay an additional processing charge as following
Credit Card: 1.20% of the examination fee plus the service tax as applicable.
Debit Card: 0.75% + taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000.
(2) Application fee once paid will not be refunded (full or partial) under any circumstances.

The fee may be submitted either by any credit/debit card or through e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank.

Candidate is allowed to submit only one Application Form. Multiple Applications of a candidate are liable to be rejected.

The candidates have to apply only in online which commences from 07.11.2014

Online procedure

Online application should be submitted through JEE (Main) 2015 website www.jeemain.nic.in

The candidate should furnish all the details and upload scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and left hand thumb impre3ssion.

Candidates should keep the copy of the print out of computer generated acknowledgement slip with themselves.

No document need to be sent in off line.
