New norms for IIT

New reformations and changes are on the way to get entry into Indian Institute of Technology. The IIT aspirants may feel happy regarding these changes are concerned.

From the forthcoming Academic Year Indian Institute of Technology will allow the students who have the following mark eligibility criteria in XII board examinations for IIT counseling.

1.75% or above in XII board examinations

2.Top 20 percentile in board exams.

The students from the states of Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh may be happy by these remarkable changes.

Which is the present Norm?

The present norms is, a student even of he passed his JEE (Advanced) after having qualified in JEE (main) has to get top 20 percentile in his/her board examination.

It is observed many students who have cleared JEE (Advance) because of not getting in the top 20 percentile were not able to get in to IIT’s.

The new norm is informed in the 48th Indian Institute council meet in Chennai by Mr.Ashok Thakur, the secretary to the Union Human Resource Development Minister participated in the meeting.

Students belonging to General, other Backward communities and Non-creamy Layer categories also have to secure 75% marks. Schedule caste and scheduled Tribes with disability have to score 70% or above in the board examination.

One more good news now is, University grants commission will start a new scheme called Ishan Uday to provide 10,000 scholarships and to will provide reservations in universities in India for economically weaker candidates from North Eastern states.

Ishan Vikas scheme for North East states is meant to provide chances to visit top IIT’s and NIT’s to discus with research scholars.
